BRAC Services will focus on federal and contractor employees and some military personnel in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, Florida, whose jobs will be eliminated due to the BRAC decisions in 2005. The services outlined will be to serve all dislocated individuals with job search assistance; financial assistance for retraining in a demand occupation identified for our two county area; support services such as childcare and transportation assistance. The following list provides those entities with substantial numbers to be affected who may apply for assistance:
Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS)
Total of 321 federal employees and 9 contractor employees
Dislocations are scheduled to begin in April 2008
Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) - Pensacola Office
Total of 116 federal employees and 61 contractor employees.
Dislocations are scheduled to begin in 2009
Other dislocations from Navy Region Gulf Coast, Naval Correctional Facility - NAS Pensacola, Naval Aviation Medical Research Laboratory, and Officer Training Command will affect 27 federal employees and 21 contractor employees. Dislocations for these workers will begin in 2009 and go through 2011.
Individuals must have an official notification of pending dislocation and the expected date of the dislocation. Individuals can begin receiving services 180 days prior to the date of their official last date of employment. For military personnel, spouses of military personnel who are to be dislocated due to BRAC may also be eligible for services.
